The Dolphin Way

Four students working on a class assignment

At Cool Spring Elementary School, we promote a safe and positive school climate for our students through establishing and teaching common expectations, promoting kindness and “bucket-filling”, and building community with class meetings. During the first weeks of school, we spend time teaching and practicing expectations with our students. In addition, we talk about rewards and incentives that our students can earn by keeping our school a safe and positive place to be.

You can talk with your child at home about the “Dolphin Way”, which are our expectations for students in all areas (cafeteria, playground, bus, classroom, hallways, etc.), and ask them about being a bucket filler. Students will participate in class meetings daily with their homeroom teacher to build class community, review expectations, help students understand how to resolve conflict appropriately, and other issues as they arise. Please see our "Dolphin Way" matrix for more information, and be sure to ask your child about how they can “make a splash” with our Dolphin Way.
