Principal's Message

Hello Cool Spring Community!

I am thrilled to be coming on board as principal of this incredible school. Having served in Hanover as an educational leader for many years, I know of Cool Spring’s tradition of academic excellence and strong family involvement. I look to continue these traditions by building positive relationships with all students, staff, and parents and focus collectively on ensuring high levels of learning, health, and happiness for all of our students.

I love the work I do and think teaching children is one of the most important jobs there is. I have had the privilege of serving as an assistant principal in Hanover County for over nine years - in our online school, at Washington-Henry Elementary, and Bell Creek Middle School. I began my career as a special education teacher working in New York City, in Paris, France, and in Henrico and Hanover counties, primarily with elementary-aged students. I am passionate about learning and believe that building strong relationships is critical to promote high levels of learning and growth for students.

I am originally from California, growing up just north of San Francisco. I am a proud product of public schools. I moved east for college attending Yale University to study psychology. I moved to New York for graduate school, earning a master of science in elementary and secondary special education from Bank Street College of Education. My husband and I moved to Virginia in 2006, and I began my leadership journey completing an education specialist degree in administration and supervision at the University of Virginia.

My husband, Ronnie, and I are proud parents to two sons, Vincent (age nine) and Arthur (age seven). We love to go to the pool, go camping, and crabbing. In addition to spending time with my family, I enjoy reading, yoga, listening to show tunes, and cooking.

I am proud to stand with and support this excellent staff as we work in partnership with you to empower our children to become confident, compassionate, and engaged citizens of a global community. I have been lucky to work with Ms. Williams this week and learn more about this special school. I will be in the building full time beginning next week. I am so excited to start meeting all of you at all of our upcoming welcome back-to-school events.
Your partner in learning,
