Drop-Off & Pick-Up Procedures

Student Hours

Students reading books on the floorStudents may enter the school building starting at 7:30 a.m. There is no adult supervision for students prior to 7:30 a.m. Students who arrive between 7:30 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. should report to the cafeteria until school starts. Our school day officially begins at 8:00 a.m.; therefore, any students arriving after 8:00 a.m. are officially tardy. If your child arrives after 8:00 a.m., please park in a designated parking spot and enter the building to sign him/her in so he/she can receive a tardy pass. A student who is consistently tardy misses vital instruction. Please strive to have your children at school on time daily. It will help to develop a positive pattern for them as they mature.

Morning Arrival for Car Riders

You may drop your child off at beginning at 7:30 a.m. The designated area for drop-off is in front of our school. A staff member will be present beginning at 7:30 a.m. to supervise students as they make their way into enter the building. We encourage all students to open the car door closest to the sidewalk and walk on the on the sidewalk to ensure individual safety.

Escorting Your Child Into the School Building

Parents who wish to escort their children into the school lobby should park in the parking lot in front of the school building. Beginning the second week of school, we will designate our lobby as the “Hug and Kiss Goodbye Zone.” We encourage parents to use this zone to wish their children a great day at school, then allow students to walk to their classrooms without a parent to foster their independence.

General Guidelines and Parking

  • The bus loop is for buses only at all times. Please do not drive through the bus loop or park in the bus loop at any time. Our bus loop is a fire lane.
  • During school-wide events such as open house, class parties, and back-to-school night, parents should utilize the access road located between Honey Meadows and Cool Spring Elementary School for parking. You may park cars along both sides of the road all the way to the cones. The cones will indicate where the fire lane begins and parking should stop. Please refrain from using Honey Meadows for parking.

Parent Drop-Off (Mornings)

  • Parents can drop their children off in the car loop (front parking lot loop area) each morning beginning at 7:30 a.m. Do not allow your child to exit the vehicle prior to a Cool Spring staff member arriving to the car loop to supervise our morning drop-off.
  • You may drop off students at the designated location between 7:30 and 8:00 a.m. Students dropped off prior to 7:45 a.m. will wait in the cafeteria for the 7:45 a.m. bell. Between 7:45 and 8:00 a.m., students will proceed directly to their classroom.
  • Please have your child ready to exit the car (back pack ready, goodbyes said, etc.) when you reach the drop off location so that students may exit the car quickly.
  • Your child will exit through a door on the passenger side so that he or she will not have to cross in front of cars.
  • Drivers should not exit the car in the parent drop off line. If your child needs assistance opening the door, one of the staff members on duty will assist your child.
  • At 8:00 a.m., the staff member on duty will close the door at parent drop off. Students may not be dropped off in the car loop after 8:00 a.m.
  • If your student arrives after 8:00 a.m., you must park in the parking lot and walk your child in through the front entrance of the school. You will need to sign your child in as tardy.
  • Please do not pull into or through the parking area to drop your child off. The parking areas are for parking only and should be used when you must escort your child into school. For your child’s safety, we encourage all drop offs to be done using the car loop during parent drop off time (7:30 to 8:00 a.m.).
  • Parents who wish to escort their children into the school lobby should park in the parking lot in front of the school building. Our front lobby is designated as the “hug and kiss goodbye zone.” We encourage parents to use this zone to wish their children a great day at school, then allow students to walk to their classrooms without a parent to foster their independence and enhance our safety practices. Staff members are available to assist students who need help getting to class in the mornings beginning on the first day of school.
