Principal's Message

Amy J. WilliamsDear Cool Spring Families,

It is with great pride and excitement that I become a member of the Cool Spring Elementary School staff as the newly appointed principal. During my first days at Cool Spring, I have had the opportunity to meet many of our talented staff members and our amazing PTA board. It is evident that I am joining a team of educators that is dedicated to providing engaging and innovative learning opportunities to students each day so that all students may achieve high levels of success. The support of our community and PTA is also evident to me. As I begin my first year as principal of Cool Spring, I am energized and committed to making a positive difference in the lives of each of our students for years to come.

I am a native of Hanover County, VA, and currently reside in Hanover with my husband and two children, Carter and Maddox. I earned my bachelor’s degree in elementary education at Longwood University and my master’s degree in educational leadership at Virginia Commonwealth University. This will be my sixteenth year as an educator, with five years of classroom teaching experience in multiple grade levels and nine years of experience as a school administrator. I have served as a principal in both Chesterfield and Spotsylvania County, and I was most recently working as director of Human Resources for Spotsylvania County. I am excited to return to Hanover County, where I began my career as a teacher and administrator, and I cannot wait to meet all of our students and families. As principal, I believe in providing students with a safe and nurturing learning environment that is engaging, innovative, and tailored to their needs and interests. Building positive relationships, collaborating with stakeholders, and encouraging community involvement is at the heart of what I feel will contribute to the success of all students.

Cool Spring has established a reputation of excellence by providing differentiated instruction that is rigorous and relevant, fostering strong relationships with students and families, and establishing strong community partnerships. I am truly honored to have the opportunity to serve the Cool Spring community, and I look forward to working with each of you to provide the best possible educational program for our students. As principal, my door is always open, and I welcome your input. Please feel free to email or call to make an appointment to discuss any concerns, suggestions, or ideas to help make this the best year yet! You can reach me by email or by phone at (804) 723-3560.

We will hold a few informal "Meet the Principal" events this summer so that I have an opportunity to meet you and your child prior to the school year. There will be an email sent in the near future with details. I hope that you and your family have an enjoyable and rejuvenating summer.

In partnership,

Amy J. Williams
